Academy Gallery is an Art Museum in Florence. One of the reasons it is worldwide renowned is that Michelangelo’s David is preserved here, as well as a total of 7 art pieces by Michelangelo himself. Moreover, inside Academy Gallery you can find a collection of Florentine artists paintings from XIV century to the late Renaissance: some of them are Paolo Uccello, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli and Andrea del Sarto.
Academy Gallery was founded in 1784 by Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany, when he decided to rearrange Academy of Arts of Design.
The Michelangelo’s David you will find here is the original one, the other one located in Piazza della Signoria is a copy.
