The Basilica of St. Peter, is an Italian Basilica of Vatican city dated back to the Renaissance period. It is known also for being the mother church of the Christian Church all over the world and the artists who worked on it are not one but many. Among them there are Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, each of them contributed to make it one of Rome main highlights.
According to Catholic traditions, St. Peter Basilica is also the burial place of St. Peter himself, and his tomb is thought to be right under the high altar of the Basilica. The Basilica is a worldwide pilgrimage destination and many liturgical functions take place here.
