Our  Early Sistine Chapel express tour combined with the tour inside the Basilica of St. Peter’s including  the Pope’s Grottoes offers a number of advantages: you will join a very small group of maximum 12 people plus a knowledgeable English-speaking guide who will accompany you along the tour.

This tour will start  at 7:30 am, you will be provided by personal headsets and go in the priority line ready to enter the Vatican Museums at 8:00 am, while you are getting into the priority entrance the guide will be explaining the Sistine Chapel since inside it is not permitted any explanation or talking due to the fact that it is an holy place. We will also provided a special picture with a short description of the Michelangelo’s Ceiling and Last Judgement. One hour prior the general opening you will enter the Vatican Museums and go  to Sistine Chapel walking through the main galleries leading to the Sistine Chapel with our expert guide in an intimate group of only 12 visitors. As you access to the chapel you will ready to embrace the outstanding beauty of Michelangelo’s artwork in the Sistine Chapel; the artist was only 33 years old when he started the Ceiling with stories of the Creation of the World, creation of Adam and Noah’s life. Our friendly enthusiastic guide will be glad to tell you also some stories hidden behind these treasures, about the relationship with Pope Julius II, the strong competition with other artists of the time, and the incredible techniques of this unique artist. In the Vatican the astonishment continues as the tour proceeds: after the Sistine Chapel you will also visit Saint Peter’s Basilica with the benefit of an early entrance which will definitely grant you a peaceful visit. In the Basilica make sure you won’t miss the marvellous Pietà, one of the first breath-taking piece of art made by the young artist. Take a look also at Bernini’s Baldachin and do not miss the several Popes tombs that were sculpted by famous artists like the Tomb of Pope Alexander the VII and the Tomb of Innocent the VIII or the tomb of Pope Boncompagni known as Gregory the XIII the Pope of the Gregorian Calendar. During the tour you will also access to the level beneath the Basilica  where are the Popes’ Grottoes there are Papal Grottoes ; here there are buried many Popes from many centuries ago. Many of these tombs were before in the old Basilica of St. Peter built under the Roman Emperor Constantine and moved later on to the new Basilica started in the 1506 under the architect Bramante. Once you enter inside you will see the beautiful Tomb of St. Peter, the first Pope, the tomb is located right under the altar of the Basilica. The place is a underneath crypt dedicated to the faith and the memory where are located many tombs from Medieval and Renaissance period as well.

Meeting place across the Vatican Museums entrance, Viale Vaticano 100 outside Caffè Vaticano. By Metro, (Line A), get off at Ottaviano. Ottaviano metro stop is only 10 minutes walk to the Vatican Museum only entrance and you will meet us right across the street with a sign.
