Our itinerary includes several sections of the Vatican such as the Pinecone Courtyard, the Octagonal Courtyard where are housed the marble statues of “Apollo”, “Laocoon” and “Torso”; the Round Room renown for the beautiful bronze statue of Hercules and the porphyry bathtub of Nero from Nero’s Golden House;  you will also see the main galleries that lead our group to the apartment of the Pope Julius II where there is the “School of Athen” by Raphael, then you step inside the Pope Borgia apartment before you access inside the spectacular Sistine Chapel to admire the frescoes of Michelangelo painted in two different period of his life and for two different popes. Michelangelo has always considered himself a sculptor who saw the marble as something simple to deal with. When he received the commission of the ceiling, Michelangelo was working on a different project but even if he was not keen to deal with painting, he could not refuse a request from the Pope Julius II della Rovere. In 4 years the “Star” of the Renaissance will represent in the ceiling the Creation of the World and episodes from the life of Noah. After 21 years, Michelangelo, in his 61 years, will come back and paint in only 5 years the Last Judgement for Pope Paul III, Farnese.  With our passionate guide you will discover the meaning of the frescoes but also learn many stories and anecdotes on Michelangelo, who fought against the painful body in order to carry out his work leaving a unique witness through his frescoes to all men.

Along you way out you will admire other Vatican galleries including the gallery of the Library  and painted rooms with exhibition of special gift donated in the past centuries by several kings to Pope.
