St. Ignatius Church

The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola at Campus Martius is a spectacolar church located in Rome city center. Initially used as chapel of the Roman College, this church was built in Baroque style in the XVII century.  The church is renown for the amazing ceiling with  frescoes by Andrea Pozzo depicting the work of Saint Ignatius and the Society of Jesus. The ceiling has an incredible 3D “tromp l’oeil” effect and gives to the visitors the idea of giant painting with 3d effect. But the ceiling is not the only special thing of this church considered a must- see place; once you enter the church go to the center of the nave to see the Dome painted with an illusionist technique  that it seems, real, do not forget to keep the eyes at the Dome facing up and move around little bit and you will really enjoy the amazing trom l’oeil effect from the baroque period.
