You will join a Colosseum with Arena floor small group tour of average 18 participants (maximum 24 people) , our passionate storytelling English-speaking guide will teach you stories and anecdotes over the Gladiators and roman Emperors. Departure from our office near the Colosseum where you will receive personal headsets for a better listening to our guide. From here you will head to a special Gladiator ‘s Gate where only visitors with a special reservation can access and enjoy a fast track entrance to the Colosseum entering the amphitheater directly onto the Arena, the stage of the Gladiators where they used to fight for becoming stars! The morning shows were called “Venationes” and the “Bestiarii” Gladiators were fighting against wild animals.
From this stage you will visit the ring that overlooks the undergrounds of the Colosseum. While you take in the amazing view, our guides will share their knowledge about the history of Ancient Rome and of the Colosseum in particular. Our guides are all licensed and have a degree either in Art History or Archaeology. Their explanations are rich of amazing anecdotes about the Colosseum and its spectators. Discovering the fights between wild beasts and gladiators and the lives of the powerful Emperors and politicians of the time!
Your 3 hours tour of Ancient Rome will continue to the Palatine Hill, one of Rome’s seven hills. Here Emperors and wealthy families used to have their houses built, to enjoy the stunning view over the Roman Forum and Circus Maximum: the panorama is still breathtaking!
Your group will then walk down the Palatine Hill and stroll among the ruins of the Roman Forum. This is an archaological area that the guide will bring alive sharing more history and anecdotes about Ancient Rome. Our guides use overlay books and 3D pictures to show you how each column, temple and building used to look like at that time.
You will understand what those ruins used to represent, linking them to the main characters and events of Ancient Rome’s history.
