During our Best of Rome Walking for Kids Adventure you will see amazing baroque fountains and monuments, unique Roman aristocratic palaces, fascinating roman columns and ruins.
Best of Rome Walking for Kids Adventure starts in Piazza di Spagna, one of Rome’s most known squares. Here you can see the stunning Spanish steps of Trinità dei Monti, which has recently been cleaned and restored. At the foot of the staircase is Bernini’s “Barcaccia” Fountain, a fantastic place to drink fresh water and take a family snap.
From here you will walk with your guide through the typically cobblestone alleys of the city centre, lined on both sides by beautiful boutiques and restaurants. You will see the magnificent Trevi Fountain: here you will see tons of tourists honoring the tradition of throwing a coin inside the fountain to ensure their return to the Eternal City.
The next stop is in Piazza della Rotonda which houses an amazing round building of the Pantheon. It was once a pagan temple, but later Romans turned it into one of the most prestigious building of the Imperial Rome and finally in a Catholic Church. Now it contains the tombs of Raphael and other important characters and the first two kings of Italy, but it is mostly famous for the hole in its dome!
Another fantastic square you will visit is Piazza Navona, a masterpiece of the Baroque. In the middle of the square the amazing Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone, designed by Borromini, stands out, while in the top, centre and bottom of the square lies three splendid fountains, of which the Fountain of the Four Rivers in the centre is one of Bernini’s masterpieces.
